This is a result of a one-week (!) brief of creating another iteration with what each student was working on. At the moment, I was exploring ‘vernacular’ which is the particular language used in the specific field while constantly being asked by tutors to reference pieces of contemporary art which are considered as a high-cultural academically-proofed form. Also, I had to take care of my mother, who does not speak English at all, for a week in London.
As a solution of this juggling, I took her to Tate Modern and let her explain 10 works of contemporary art with her words to question how we understand and appreciate contemporary art through the vernacular.
